The walkthrough right after move-out is the most important hour of the turnover. Whatever you write down now is what gets fixed. Whatever you miss becomes next tenant's complaint.
Walls and ceilings
- Holes from mounts and anchors
- Door-knob holes behind every door
- Stains and scuffs
- Ceiling marks
Doors and trim
- Every door closes and latches
- Split jambs or casing
- Loose baseboard
Floors
- Scratches, gouges and stains
- Loose transitions
- Carpet tears or burns
Fixtures
- Blinds, towel bars, light fixtures
- Cabinet doors and drawers
- Missing cover plates
Then
Photograph each item, then turn the list into a written scope. See move-out repairs.
